{"id":13158,"date":"2021-03-29T16:52:33","date_gmt":"2021-03-29T14:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.neva.eu\/uncategorized\/step-by-step-installation-of-external-blinds-what-are-the-steps\/"},"modified":"2023-01-23T11:51:19","modified_gmt":"2023-01-23T10:51:19","slug":"step-by-step-installation-of-external-blinds-what-are-the-steps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.neva.eu\/en\/advice-and-instructions\/step-by-step-installation-of-external-blinds-what-are-the-steps\/","title":{"rendered":"Step-by-step installation of external blinds: what are the steps?"},"content":{"rendered":"        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-heading typography my-1\">\n              \n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The procedure depends on the installation method<\/strong><\/h2>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">External blinds can be installed:<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Into a&nbsp;case <strong>under the fa\u00e7ade<\/strong> (under-fa\u00e7ade installation),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>underneath cladding<\/strong> (visible installation),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or frontal installation <strong>on the fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The under-fa\u00e7ade installation, while the most technically difficult and time-consuming, is the one we recommend because both the case and the anchoring elements are <strong>elegantly hidden under the fa\u00e7ade. There is however one catch to this type of installation: <strong>it cannot be performed as a&nbsp;modification<\/strong>. If you\u2019re modifying a&nbsp;completed house, you\u2019re stuck with installation underneath cladding or frontal installation.<\/strong><\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-heading typography my-1\">\n              \n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Installation of blinds underneath the fa\u00e7ade (under-fa\u00e7ade installation)<\/strong><\/h2>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is best to consider external blinds as a&nbsp;part of the construction project so that the project engineer takes them into account and adapts the area above the windows and electrical wiring if necessary, as under-fa\u00e7ade installation involves placing a&nbsp;case<strong> in the fa\u00e7ade above the window<\/strong> (e.g., our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neva.eu\/doplnky-a-prislusenstvi\/produkty\/iso-kastl\/\" title>ISO-KASTL<\/a>), into which the blinds retract. Insufficient space above windows is the very reason why under-fa\u00e7ade installation cannot typically be done as a&nbsp;modification.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe external blinds alone require a&nbsp;minimum of 13&nbsp;cm of depth above the window, even more if you are considering anti-insect screens. The required space increases further with the thickness of the case and heat insulation. Alas, trying it on a&nbsp;10cm lintel is just never going to happen,\u201c<\/em> points out the owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/stardesign.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">StarDesign<\/a>, Martin St\u00e1ra.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIn case of our very own ISO-KASTL, we recommend 2&nbsp;cm for heat insulation of the front side, with 1.5&nbsp;cm being the thickness of the front cover wall, then 13&nbsp;cm for the blind and 1.5&nbsp;cm once more for the rear wall. That adds up to about 18&nbsp;cm \u201c<\/em>adds Luk\u00e1\u0161 Musil, Sales Manager of&nbsp;NEVA.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The under-fa\u00e7ade installation is then performed <strong>in four steps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the first phase (when you have just a&nbsp;basic structure with no fa\u00e7ade or mounted windows), the installation company <strong>measures the preparation for the blinds<\/strong> and verifies further construction details (window frame connection, brickwork and lintel straightness or heat insulation). Based on this, a&nbsp;case and U\u2011profiles are ordered for the guide rails or sandwich plates.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>In the second phase, the company <strong>mounts the under-fa\u00e7ade case<\/strong> above the window opening and anchors U\u2011profiles or hidden guiding profiles. This assembly needs to be precise \u2013 for example, the case needs to be perfectly levelled by the installer, guiding rail U\u2011profiles must not converge, diverge or be misaligned. The construction company then insulates the house and finalizes the fa\u00e7ade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>As soon as the fa\u00e7ade is completed, the installation company shows up to carry out the <strong>final measurements<\/strong>. This step is critical because external blinds need to be measured with absolute precision. Experienced installers know, for example, that a&nbsp;blind must end at least 2&nbsp;cm above the window sill, because it sags over time and must not end up freezing to the sill. The measurement tolerance is very low, e.g., a&nbsp;mere 2&nbsp;mm for blind&nbsp;width.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last step, the installers arrive at the construction site to install the blinds into the prepared cases and anchor the guiding rails into the U\u2011profiles, as well as connecting the motor to the prepared electrical cables and checking <strong>the end position of the blinds<\/strong>. In the final step, they check the operation of the blind and set up remote control programming.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At NEVA, we also offer under-fa\u00e7ade installation based on the <strong>STF2 self-supporting system<\/strong>, where the blinds are connected with the case, the U\u2011profile and guiding rails into one piece. In that case, the installation is faster \u2013 the blind is measured and mounted onto the window frame; the fa\u00e7ade is added afterwards.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section id=\"component-0f497baf0774f7a2c685eb5fb63bd435\" class=\"component component-citation citation\">\n              <div class=\"citation__text\">\n  &bdquo;We can even arrange with the window manufacturers to have the blinds anchored to the frame even prior to mounting them at the construction site. Afterwards, you simply bring the window with the blind to the construction site and anchor it. It\u2019s a&nbsp;pity that STF2 has not seen much use in Czechia.&ldquo;\n<\/div>\n  <div class=\"citation__authorwrap\">\n  <div class=\"citation__line\"><\/div>\n    <p class=\"citation__author\">Martin St\u00e1ra<\/p>\n      <p class=\"citation__position\">Owner of StarDesign<\/p>\n  <\/div>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another option is presented by our <strong>STL self-supporting system<\/strong>, which does not include a&nbsp;case and relies on you to have your own box prepared at the construction site. The cladding is installed into the window opening and fixed onto holders anchored to the window or lintel. Due to the cladding being within the window opening, it slightly compromises the full height of the window.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cSimilar to under-fa\u00e7ade installation, the cladding also needs to be at least 13&nbsp;cm deep. It is usually installed flush with the fa\u00e7ade. Sometimes, however, the window opening may not be deep enough and makes the cladding protrude over the fa\u00e7ade a&nbsp;little bit,\u201d<\/em> notes Martin St\u00e1ra.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The advantage of visible installation is its speed; everything is done in just two&nbsp;steps.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the first step, the installer measures the construction opening, checks its straightness and consults you on how you want the guiding rails done. The rails can be installed onto the frame of the window using a&nbsp;holder or into the brickwork. The brickwork option may be problematic if the brickwork is uneven or too insulated with not enough space for the holders, which is why it is sometimes not an option.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>In the second step, the installer measures and anchors the upper profile holders, mounts the cladding and attaches it to the holders. Afterwards, they mount the blind into the holders, install the guiding rails and connect the blinds\u2019 motor, and check the blinds, including their end position. In case of crank controls, they also make a&nbsp;grommet hole in the window.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For these types of installation, NEVA also offers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.neva.eu\/en\/blinds\/products\/stf\/stf1\/\" title>the STF1 self-supporting system<\/a><\/strong>, which includes blinds, guiding rails and the cladding all in one piece. This means the blinds visibly protrude from the fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this installation method, the blinds retract into a&nbsp;prepared case, which is <strong>above the window opening<\/strong>. The bearing brackets or guiding profiles are anchored frontally onto the fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The disadvantages and risks of this installation method come with the anchoring. Due to the weight of the blinds, the anchoring must always be done into a&nbsp;wall (or at least onto supporting parts connected to the wall). In cases where there are thick insulation layers, anchors for breaking thermal bridges are&nbsp;used.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-paragraph typography my-1\">\n              \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The assembly itself is then performed in two&nbsp;steps.<\/p>\n      <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"component component-gutenberg-list typography my-1\">\n              \n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the first step, the installer <strong>measures the window<\/strong> and chooses the optimal anchoring method.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the second step, they install the holders, mount guiding rails and cladding and attach the blinds.
